Femi Kuti Sparks Reactions After Declining Solo Picture with Korra Obidi

Afrobeat Star Jokes About Avoiding Online Controversy After Lagos Concert

Afrobeat musician Femi Kuti has humorously declined to take a solo photograph with celebrity dancer and social media personality Korra Obidi, saying he wanted to avoid unnecessary controversy.

The incident occurred after a live concert in Lagos, where Korra met Femi Kuti backstage and requested a photograph.

In a video shared on Instagram by Korra on Friday, the singer jokingly called on his sister, Yeni Kuti, to join the picture, explaining that he did not want to become the subject of online drama, The News Edition reports.

“I don’t want any problems in my life. I already have enough problems. YK, come and join this picture. It seems even the gods don’t want this picture—that’s why it’s raining,” Femi Kuti said with a laugh.

His comments appeared to reference the controversy that followed Korra Obidi’s visit to the Fela Kuti gravesite in December 2025, when a video of her dancing at the location sparked widespread reactions on social media.

Sharing the clip, Korra expressed her admiration for the Afrobeat legend and his family.

“Uncle Femi doesn’t want wahala. Yesterday after my private live concert, I met the legends Femi Kuti and Yeni Kuti at Legacy Studios. I am so honored. Thank you, Bigbird Kuti,” she wrote.

The lighthearted exchange has since attracted attention online, with many social media users describing the moment as humorous rather than confrontational.
