JAMB Fixes CAPS, Gives Universities Deadline to Complete Admissions

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the full restoration of its Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) following a temporary disruption.

In a statement posted on its official X account, the examination body urged tertiary institutions to accelerate their admission processes to make up for lost time and meet the approved deadlines for the 2026/2027 academic session.

JAMB also advised candidates who have received admission offers through CAPS to accept them promptly to avoid delays in the admission process, The News Edition reports.

JAMB Announces Admission Deadlines

The Board announced the following deadlines for concluding the 2026/2027 admission exercise:

– Public universities: October 31, 2026

– Private universities: November 30, 2026

– Other tertiary institutions: December 31, 2026

JAMB urged institutions to work within the approved timelines to ensure the admission exercise is completed as scheduled.

Candidates Awaiting NECO Results Advised to Act

The Board also advised candidates who were awaiting their 2026 National Examinations Council (NECO) Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) results to upload or verify their results on the system promptly.

According to JAMB, updating their credentials would ensure that institutions have the necessary information to consider their applications as admissions progress.

“CAPS is back and fully operational,” the Board announced.

JAMB expressed regret over the inconvenience caused by the temporary disruption and thanked candidates, institutions and other stakeholders for their patience and understanding.

The restoration of CAPS is expected to enable institutions to continue processing admission offers and help candidates complete the admission process within the approved deadlines.
