Burna Boy Makes History as First Male Artiste to Top Spotify Global Music Video Chart

Nigerian Superstar Achieves Milestone With World Cup Hit ‘Dai Dai’ Featuring Shakira

Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has become the first male artiste to top Spotify’s newly launched Global Music Video Chart.

The Grammy-winning singer achieved the milestone with ‘Dai Dai,’ his FIFA World Cup song featuring Colombian superstar Shakira. The achievement also makes Burna Boy the first African artiste to reach the number one spot on the new global chart.

The song continues its impressive global run, climbing to a new peak of No. 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week. Industry projections suggest it could break into the top 10 following Burna Boy and Shakira’s performance during the FIFA World Cup Final halftime show.

‘Dai Dai’ is currently the most-streamed music video of 2026 on YouTube, amassing nearly 500 million views, and recently topped the Apple Music Global Songs Chart.

The success of the hit has also strengthened Burna Boy’s dominance on streaming platforms. He has extended his record as the African artiste with the highest number of monthly listeners in Spotify history, surpassing 53 million monthly listeners.

In addition, the Nigerian singer has set another milestone by becoming the African artiste with the most monthly listeners on YouTube Music, with more than 600 million monthly listeners.

The latest achievements further cement Burna Boy’s position as one of Africa’s most successful and influential music exports on the global stage.
