One person has died, while three others sustained serious injuries in a road accident along the Lagos Coastal Road, inward Eko Hotel, in the early hours of Thursday.
The crash involved a grey Lexus Jeep 350 with registration number LSD 554 KV.
According to preliminary findings by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), the vehicle reportedly lost control, rammed into a roadside pole and overturned, The News Edition reports.
LASTMA officials monitoring traffic along the Coastal Road axis quickly mobilised to the scene, secured the affected section and facilitated emergency response.
The three injured victims were rescued from the wreckage with assistance from passersby and taken to Duck-Yard Hospital within the Military Zone for urgent medical treatment.
Security personnel from Victoria Island also supported the rescue operation, while LASTMA officers removed the wrecked vehicle to prevent further accidents and restore traffic flow.
Relevant emergency and security agencies were also contacted to assist with rescue efforts, investigations and safety procedures.
Reacting to the incident, LASTMA General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, expressed condolences to the family of the deceased.
He warned motorists against speeding, reckless driving and losing control of their vehicles, noting that such behaviour could have fatal consequences.
Bakare-Oki urged drivers to maintain safe speeds, remain vigilant and obey traffic regulations.
He also encouraged motorists and members of the public to report road accidents, vehicle breakdowns, obstructions and other emergencies through LASTMA’s toll-free short code, 3367, to enable prompt intervention.
